Bring increased productivity to your enterprise by expanding the functionality and ‘wearability’ of your two-way radios with business radio accessories. Business walkie-talkies keep your employees comfortably connected across the sales floor and into the warehouse, throughout your hotel or restaurant and all over your school campus. Your customer service gains an immediacy that can’t be beat — with no cell phone minute plans!

Naturally, every worker has their own preferences as to how they can best use and wear their portable 2-way radios on the job. The right business radio accessories ensure that critical messages are received and employees work in their comfort zone for the duration of their shift. Offering your staff their choice of headsets, mics, earpieces and holsters shows your employees you care how they experience their workday. Management studies consistently find that employees who feel they are treated fairly and with respect work smarter and harder.

To the public, two-way radio accessories for business add an air of professionalism to your retail store, hotel, restaurant or movie theater. An employee wearing a headset or using a shoulder mic shows the customer their needs are already met both by the person standing in front of them and the behind-the-scenes team implied by the business radio accessories they wear. Whether it’s the sense of safety in seeing a security guard checking in on his RDX radio shoulder mic or the smooth savvy of the hotel concierge calling for a bellhop on a CLS walkie-talkie headset; customers remember you bring your A-game.

For independent contractors competing for jobs in a tough economy, a reputation for a well-run construction crew, plumbing project or catering event is essential to building your business. High praise, word-of-mouth advertising is the best you can get in any industry. You can ensure that your rep stays squeaky clean by keeping your workers informed and connected using business radios with two-way radio accessories that increase productivity, efficiency and safety.

Certainly one of the surest ways to stay safe on any job site is to keep (both hands) focused on the task at hand. Walkie-talkie accessories help your employees make the most of your VOX capable business radios. Whether you’re speaking into a VOX enabled RDX unit via temple transducer mic under your hardhat or you’re calling for assistance with a patient in your nursing home using a simple earpice mic, two-way radio accessories can be a lifesaver! VOX capable business walkie-talkies push performance even further to deliver the high value returns you expect on your business radio investment.

Techwholesale.com offers a diverse selection of business walkie-talkie accessories that integrate seamlessly into the workaday world of your enterprise.

What is it? What will it do for me?

Earpiece mics: The combination earpiece with in-line microphone is probably the most popular way to use and wear two-way radios at work. Earpiece mics bring the business end of the walkie-talkie (its speaker) right where it needs to be: your ear. Also, the position of the inline microphone attached to the cord keeps the mic closer to your mouth without having to hold the radio. The earpiece mic combo embodies the perfect solution for loud work environments, as filtering out background noise becomes a lot easier when those distractions are truly in the background. So useful is the earpiece mic construction, that it has spawned a couple of subspecies. Depending on the model you choose, the earpiece coupled with its microphone works with VOX capable radios or the Push-to-talk (PTT) function.

Earpiece and in-line microphone: The earpiece with in-line microphone features a comfortable plastic structure that slips over the top of the ear to position the speaker right at the opening of the ear canal. Attached is a cord with a small microphone that hangs the mic in the right place to pick up speech. Everything hangs to one side, out of the way and is easily clipped to your clothing to keep the cord from flopping around. If you’re old enough to remember the pre-bluetooth cell phone earpiece mics of yesteryear, the in-line earpiece mic for walkie-talkies will feel familiar.

Discreet earpiece: What’s not to love about the cool, curly, translucent cord hidden behind your ear that evokes the look of the Secret Service or a News Anchor? Give your security team or hotel concierge the look of authority in an instant with a discreet earpiece with microphone. The translucent earpiece fits snugly and comfortably into the ear canal while a low profile microphone hangs right in range of your voice. The discreet earpiece mic creates a smooth, elegant look for your restaurant, retail or church communication needs. Form meets function for the win! Discreet earpiece mic units are available for VOX or PTT functionality.

Earpiece with boom mic: For those who prefer to place their microphone closer to their mouth, you’ll want to check out the earpiece with boom mic. The earpiece keeps the speaker at your ear via a small piece of plastic that slips over the top curve. A small boom microphone angles out from the middle of the speaker that sits at close comfortable range of your mouth next to your cheek. The earpiece boom mic’s flexible construction allows you to position the microphone exactly to your liking. It’s perfect for loud and hushed environments alike.

Earbud with mics: Slim, no nonsense handheld 2-way radio communication on the go. Pop the earbud in your ear for ease of listening to radio transmissions, but still keep an ear out for what’s happening around you. Clip the mic to your shirt, apron or collar and messages transmit loud and clear! The earbud and microphone construction is great for young employees of your restaurant, cafe, retail store or movie theater who pretty much live in their ipod earphones. The earbud mic fits right into what they’re used to. Earbud mics also make a nice discreet look for receptionists and restaurant workers who don’t want a lot of gear to get in their way.

Temple transducer: Wear a hardhat or safety helmet on your construction site, at the loading dock or in the warehouse? You don’t have to sacrifice safety to get the benefits of connecting to co-workers via business walkie-talkies. Temple transducers allow employees to listen to 2-way radio talk without compromising their ability to hear what’s going on in the work environment nearby. Keeping aware of dangerous machinery in use or hearing that forklift backing up are the keys to avoiding workplace injuries in an industrial setting. Temple transducers don’t block ambient noise because they don’t cover the ear. Instead, temple transducers convert audio to vibrations that they transmit through bone into the inner ear allowing it to be processed by the brain as language. How cool is that!

Shoulder mics: The preferred microphone and speaker system of many a police officer, the <a href="http://www.techwholesale.com/spiriremtspk.html target="_blank">shoulder mic stays right where you need it when you need it. There’s nothing to hold. The shoulder mic is clipped right at your shoulder, so when you want to talk, simply turn your head and push the button. When you need to listen, the shoulder mic’s speaker is positioned right next to your ear. It’s a great business walkie-talkie accessory for employees who don’t want to wear a headset or dislike things actually in their ears. Employees can easily and cleanly share shoulder mics, as they would a telephone’s handset.

Headset mics: Headsets with microphones have been a part of business communication since the earliest days of Ma Bell and the telephone operator. Now that business happens on the go, we’ve got business headsets for two-way radio communication! The headset mic is perfect for creative types who want to be able to talk with their hands as they’re immersed in their work such as directors in theater productions, theater and sound techs: folks who want the secure feeling of headset placement coupled by the flexibility of a boom microphone. With the speaker right at your ear and the boom mic easy to position at your mouth, on-the-move communication becomes comfortable and easy.

Clips and holsters: There’s nothing like having your work radio at your side, so your shift runs smoothly and easily. Belt clips and carry holsters should be at the top of your must-have business radio accessories list. Motorola makes a belt clip especially designed for each of their business walkie-talkies. Spring loaded or swivel, Motorola makes it easy to keep your radio at the ready as you move through your workday.

For your uniquely designed Motorola CLP business walkie-talkies, we offer Motorola’s new magnetic case that lets you wear your CLP radios in sync with the way you work. You’ll present a confident, professional image with a CLP radio attached to your business suit or uniform via magnetic carrying case.

Carrying cases: Motorola business radios are made to take a bounce or two, but it’s better to be safer than sorry by keeping your business walkie-talkie in a carrying case. In addition to helping ward off the ill effects of a busy or dirty work environment, a nice leather carry case adds to the professional polish of your jobsite radio.

Radio-to-radio cloning cables: Radio-to-radio cloning cables are a big time saver for every business that relies on two-way radios for employee communication. Cloning cables allow you to reproduce radio settings and user menu programming from walkie-talkie to walkie-talkie at the mere touch of a button. Your whole fleet of business radios will all operate in harmony without having to program each one individually.

Programming cables: One of the most enterprise savvy features of Motorola’s business radios is the ease of configuring your walkie-talkies to meet your unique needs using your computer. Motorola offers their Custom Programming Software (CPS) for free download. Plug-in your programming cable and you’re ready to set up your user menus, radio frequencies and customize your walkie-talkie’s features to the way you do business.

Stubby antennas: For business walkie-talkies such as the RDU4100, RDU4160, RDV5100 and the older AX radios; the stubby antenna allows more flexibility in wearing your walkie-talkie at work. Stubby antennas give you the signal push you need with the advantages a short walkie-talkie antenna.

Multi-unit chargers: Rally the troops, at once! All at once! Multi-unit chargers organize while they revitalize. You’ll never have to wander around worrying where those walkie-talkies went after the last shift and you won’t have to wonder, if they’re charged and ready for the next one. They’ll be sitting fully charged in your multi-unit charger. You also free up a lot of wall-outlets when you put all of your business’ radios in one multi-unit charger that can handle several radios. Cloning settings is breeze too. Need we say more?

Rapid chargers: Businesses that require flexibility and quick turnaround are wise to invest in a two-way radio rapid charger kit. When employees are used to the instant communication walkie-talkies provide the team, no one will want to work without it when business demands extra innings. Rapid chargers allow your enterprise the agility to scale up operations for that extra shipment, off-hours event, surprise project or the holidays.

Wall adapter chargers: Every business radio ships with one of these, but when you leave yours at the last jobs site… You can order another one from us at Techwholesale.com! When you order on a business day, your new wall adapter charger goes out that same day. Order in the off-hours and your new wall adapter charger ships the next business day.

Drop-in charging trays: Drop your business walkie-talkies in, plug-in the wall adapter and a few hours later your enterprise is abuzz with communication and customer service. Drop-in charging trays ship with every new business radio. Should you lose yours, a new drop-in charging tray will arrive at your door in a flash when you order from Techwholesale.com

It never hurts to have an extra battery around. Why not make your standard battery the spare and keep your high capacity battery in the game on a daily basis. Overtime is not a problem when you’ve got the extra juice of a high capacity battery.

Grab a pack at the convenient store, snap in your AAA battery adapter and your CLS radios are ready for more.
The U.S. Federal Communications Commission, better known as the FCC, created MURS in 2002. Officially, the FCC establishes MURS radio frequency usage as “private, two-way short distance voice or data communications service for personal or business activities of the general public”. MURS consists of five set frequencies on the VHF band: 151.820 MHz, 151.880 MHz, 151.940 MHz, 154.570 MHz, 154.600 MHz. The latter two also belong to the BRS (Business Radio Service) business band.

MURS is sort of like the FRS (Family Radio Service) of the VHF band, but with greater two-way radio range outdoors. Just like UHF’s FRS, you don’t need an FCC license to use the MURS two-way radio frequencies, so it’s totally free (after you buy your walkie-talkies, of course).

There are a few very specific FCC rules associated with MURS two-way radio equipment, but we’ll get to those in a minute. First! Let’s talk about the sweet advantages of using MURS two-way radios. We mentioned the no need to get an FCC license bit. A GMRS (business band) license costs $85, at the time of this writing. So skipping something like that lands at least an extra 85 clams in your pocket. We’ll call that a good thing. Of course, like all handheld 2-way radio communication, there are no airtime fees and no contracts. We’ll call that sugar on top of the no FCC license paperwork or fees.

Another win for MURS walkie-talkies is the two-way radio range. VHF waves are longer and stick closer to the ground, so they can travel great distances across flat terrain outdoors. They’re not the waves of choice in an urban setting where you get a lot of buildings and soft-bodied people, but VHF waves are perfect for penetrating dense foliage and forests. Also, VHF is the preferred radio band for marine communications. So boating enthusiasts and fisherfolk who don’t want to fork out the cash for an FCC license: heads up!

Who uses MURS? And what for?

We mentioned our friends the boaters and fishing fanatics. Other lovers of the great outdoors who could get a lot of fresh-aired mileage out of their MURS walkie-talkies are motorcyclists, hikers, campers (especially the serious campers who fan out from a base camp and communicate between satellite camps), car-clubs and automobile buffs, paintballers, hunters and just about any friend of Mother Nature. MURS walkie-talkies have also become quite popular with the traveller community for their range out on the open road. Business users such as small farmers or security monitoring outdoor sites will love the low overhead boost to workflow and productivity adding a no-business license MURS radio brings to your enterprise.

MURS, the FCC’s fine print

Naturally, the FCC’s got a big job on their hands mediating the radio wave traffic that flows across our finite radio frequency spectrum. There are a lot of two-way radio users out there and only so much room on nature’s spectrum. So to bring order to chaos, the FCC divides the radio wave spectrum into chunks and sets conditions on the usage of the frequencies therein. Use of the Multiple Use Radio Service two-way radio frequencies is licensed by rule, which means there’s no individual license required to use MURS. There’s no age restriction to transmitting and receiving on the MURS two-way radio frequencies and MURS can be used for personal and/or business applications. Your MURS device must be certified by the FCC and must carry a label to that effect placed by the manufacturer.

Of course, with so few restrictions and the potential for excellent, long range two-way radio communication, the MURS frequencies do see a fair amount of action. Though the FCC is relatively hands off with regard to their use, the FCC.gov site states, “None of the MURS channels are assigned for the exclusive use of any system. You must cooperate in the selection and use of channels in order to make the most effective use of them and to reduce the possibility of interference”. In other words: be cool and play fair.

MURS frequency enthusiasts may conduct two-way radio communications on MURS channels anywhere the FCC regulates radio frequencies, much like the CB or citizen’s band radio frequencies. While you may not use MURS on board an aircraft (not just illegal, but a very bad idea with risk for interfering with the plane’s radio signals), you may use MURS radios on a ship or boat sailing in domestic or international waters, with permission of the vessel’s captain.

In the United States and her territories, the only entities prohibited from using the MURS two-way radio frequencies are foreign governments and their representatives. MURS units may not be connected to the public telephone network and may not be used for store and forward operations. Use of repeaters is not permitted except under the circumstance where you have maintained an active MURS frequencies business license prior to and since the FCC rules change in 2002 and your license is grandfathered in.

Other restrictions on MURS include limits on transmitter power levels and antenna height. A MURS frequencies two-way radio may transmit at a maximum 2-watts of power: “No MURS unit, under any conditions of modulation, shall exceed 2-watts of transmitter output”, FCC.gov. As for antennas, use of external antennas are permitted so long as they are not placed more than 60 feet above ground or 20 feet above the highest point on the structure to which they are mounted. The good news on external antenna use is that it can increase the range of your MURS 2-way radio communications as much as 10 miles or more! Perfect for that outdoor base camp that needs to stay connected to other sub-camps out in the wild, wild wherever!

MURS, Terrific offerings from Motorola and Techwholesale.com!

Built with the stellar quality and rough and tumble durability of Motorola’s RDX series two-way radios, Motorola RDM walkie-talkies step up to handle your business on the VHF band. If your business involves temperature extremes as high as 140F or as low as -22F, your RDM radios are ready to rock and roll. All of Motorola’s RDM 2-way radios are built to Military Specifications 810 C, D, E, F, G and IP 54/55 that include harsh worlds of dust, shock, vibration, moisture, salt, fog and temperature. The Motorola RDM series 2-way radios come fully certified for the Multiple Use Service Radio band and bear the FCC mandated stamps to prove it. No worries there.

Techwholesale.com offers two flavors of Motorola RDM walkie-talkie: The RDM2020 and the RDM2080d. Each covers up to 220,000 sq. ft and up to 13 floors and arrives pre-set to the 5 MURS frequencies for your convenience and your FCC rules compliance. They both ship standard with an 1100 mAh-Lion rechargeable battery, a 7-hour drop in charging tray and a spring-loaded belt clip. The mAh-Lion is the superior battery chemistry on the market and you can expect up to 12 hours on a single charge (battery save enabled) when operating your walkie-talkies within the parameters of the industry standard 5/5/90 duty cycle. The 5/5/90 two-way radio battery duty cycle assumes 5% transmission, 5% reception and 90% standby. Should you require longer time periods between charges you might consider upgrading to our Ultra High Capacity battery which offers as much as 26 hours per full charge on your 2-watt RDM walkie-talkie!

Both Motorola RDM walkie-talkies feature: a Tri-color LED status indicator, auto scan, voice scramble, battery save, 3 audible call alert tones, channel scan with selectable scan list, a 2-pin accessory plug (compatible with Motorola RDX, CLS, XTN accessories) and VOX capability (hands free voice activation, requires optional accessories) with 3 sensitivity levels. For added privacy protection on the MURS frequencies both the RDM 2020 and the RDM 2080d offer 39 analogue programmable interference elimination codes and 84 digital interference elimination codes. Interference elimination codes allow you to further steps to obscure your communications on crowded two-way radio frequency channels. To hear your 2-way radio transmissions others must have their radios set to the exact same codes you’ve programmed into your walkie-talkie. With so many privacy codes available, the probability that would be eavesdroppers can find your precise code combination narrows. Programming your radios and cloning settings is a breeze with Motorola’s free downloadable CPS (Customer Programming Software). CPS offers manager lock, radio reporting, PL/DL defeat and two additional time-out timers.

So what sets the Motorola RDM2020 and the Motorola RDM2080d apart? Well, there’s a small price difference for one thing. The RDM 2020 costs less and features fewer bells and whistles. For a business on a tight budget without a pressing need for the extra features on the RDM 2080d, Motorola’s RDM 2020 makes a fine business walkie-talkie. In addition to all of the shared two-way radio features enumerated above, the RDM2020 offers users 2 separate communication channels and two programmable buttons. The RDM 2020 works as the perfect companion for the individual or small business who doesn’t need multiple channels and prefers a simplified, more streamlined model.

For a tad more money, Motorola’s RDM2080d two-way radio offers broader functionality than its sibling, the RDM2020. With the RDM 2080d you get 8 separate channels for multiple user communication. Groups of recreational users or businesses who wish to separate out their conversations, so as not to distract other users with chatter that doesn’t relate to them, love the expanded usability of Motorola’s 8 channel walkie-talkie. For added ease in usability, the Motorola RDM 2080d provides the benefits of channel aliasing (up to 8 characters), so you can add easily identifiable names to your channels like ‘Foreman’ or ‘Chris’ or ‘Houseboat’. Besides the user-friendly Tri-color LED status indicator light, the RDM2080d also employs a front panel display with 5 programmable buttons for additional information at a glance and keypad lock. You also get a battery gauge, signal strength and channel activity indicators and 3 inversion voice scramble settings.

Please let us know how we at Techwholesale can help you in choosing the MURS two-way radio that works for your personal or business communications. We’re available via telephone and email, and we’re always happy to help with walkie-talkie configuration or any questions you may have.

You’ll also have to make contact with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). According to FCC regulations, all business radios must license a radio frequency. You see, airwaves are considered public property and the FCC has to regulate the use of those public airwaves fairly. Otherwise, it would be easy for frequencies to be taken over for other uses, and like many things, airwaves can be a commodity.

Radio and TV stations use FCC licensing to broadcast waves, but businesses with two way radio connections are just as important. All radio operators, from businesses to ham radio operators, need to have FCC licensing for the specific frequency you’ll be using. It’s simply the law.

If you’re a business just starting out with a two way radio network, then be sure to check with the FCC to make sure that you’re in compliance with all appropriate regulations and requirements for licensing and use. You can find more information about FCC radio licensing at the official FCC site.

CLS Series Provides Instant Communication for Efficiency and Service

Motorola continues to offer compact business two-way radios: the Motorola CLS Business Radio Series. Recognizing the need for a compact, easy-to-use solution, Motorola CLS Series business two-way radios provide healthcare and assisted living users the ability to instantly communicate while maintaining superior service for residents and patients.

The Motorola CLS Series radios have been designed to answer the growing demand of healthcare and assisted living users who are looking for a lightweight and affordable wireless communication solution to help maintain efficiency and increase responsiveness for residents. With an easily accessible Push-To-Talk (PTT) button on the front of the radio combined with the headset accessory, users can have instant access to co-workers and can easily manage activities like dispensing medication, coordinating meals and responding to emergencies with hands-free convenience (hands-free available on the 1410 model with optional accessory). “Our healthcare and assisted living customers continually look to us to provide the next-generation in business communication.

We developed the new CLS Series of radios to bring our customers a product that will enhance their business productivity and increase service and satisfaction for residents,” said – more- Motorola marketing communications manager, Rafael Rivera. “Motorola customers can be confident that they can now get the reliable two-way communication that they need in a compact lightweight form.” Designed for non-stop environments like healthcare and assisted living facilities, the CLS two-way radios are durable and lightweight. Weighing just under five ounces, the radios can be worn or held for long periods of time without burdening the user, allowing them to keep up with constantly changing surroundings and demands.

The rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries provide the CLS with up to 12 hours of battery life, outlasting a typical eight-hour work shift. Incorporating features designed specifically for everyday work conditions, the CLS Series is ideal for healthcare and assisted living use. Operating on 56 business exclusive frequencies and featuring 121 codes, the CLS will help ensure a clear signal is readily available (FCC license required) throughout the property. Drop-in charging (charger included standard with each radio) and optional CCS (Cloning, Charging, Storage) Station help keep CLS radios centrally located and charged. The keypad lock feature helps prevent accidental changes to settings – limiting unnecessary downtime. In addition, dual pin accessory connections help bolster product durability and longevity.

The radios are equipped with three selectable call tones and the VibraCall® Alert feature (available on the 1410 model) that silently notifies the user of incoming transmissions with a vibration. In even the busiest location, healthcare and assisted living users can rely on CLS two-way radios for continuous communication. Keeping the flow of communication open, the CLS radios are also available in single or multi-channel models allowing users to communicate one-on-one or with separate work groups. CLS Series radios are available in one-watt models, providing a range up to five miles, 200,000 square feet or up to 15 floors (range varies based on terrain and conditions.)

With a one-year U.S. limited replacement warranty, the Motorola CLS Business Two-Way Radio has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price starting at $169 with no monthly service charges, air-time fees or connection costs (FCC license required). In addition, a variety of accessories are available to further customize the CLS Series radio. About Motorola Motorola, Inc.
